Hey Holly,
I just wanted to say: you have no reason to be mad at me since you have clearly moved on yourself. Or is that guy not your real boyfriend?
Anyway, have fun on your cruise and let me know the exact date when you’ll be picking up your stuff. Please don’t bring your new conquest. That might make it awkward for everyone involved and I don’t want that.
Kyle
I shook my head. What had I ever seen in Kyle? He was a jerk. Maybe I should’ve been happy he cheated on me and removed himself from my life.
I hopped into bed and as I drifted off to sleep, a soft knock woke me back up. It was almost midnight. Who would show up at my door at this late hour? What if it was Logan, who had lost it and wanted to kill me? It was ridiculous, but my imagination went into overdrive.
I lay still and hoped whoever it was would go away, but another knock followed soon enough.
“Holly, it’s me. Are you awake?”
I immediately recognized Noah’s voice and let out a relieved sigh before opening the door.
“What’s up?” I asked, trying not to look straight at him.
He was wearing nothing but a pair of black boxer shorts and his hair was tousled up in the sexiest way possible. In his left hand he was holding a toiletry bag, his toothbrush sticking out at the top.
“I hope I didn’t wake you up?”
“I wasn’t asleep yet. You were by the looks of it though,” I said, which prompted Noah to run a hand through his unruly hair.
“I fled the room, I hope you don’t mind.”
I stepped aside so he could come in. “What happened?”
He put his toiletry bag down on my desk and grabbed a chair. “Trina is spending the night with Dad. She claimed she saw a ferret in her cabin and doesn’t want to set foot in her room anymore.”
“A ferret?”
Noah nodded. “At first I thought she was talking about a lion or a hyena. That’s how hysterical she was. Anyway, we only have one bed in our cabin and Trina has claimed it. When I protested about not wanting to sleep on the floor, she looked at me like I was crazy and asked me why I didn’t want to spend the night at my girlfriend’s cabin, so ta-da, here I am.”
“I guess this is your lucky night then, because your fake girlfriend has a pull-out sofa.”
“Ah, the benefits of having a fake girlfriend with a deluxe room,” Noah said with a smile.
“You won’t believe the email I got,” I said, opening my laptop so he could read the email Kyle had sent me after our phone call.
Noah turned his chair toward the screen, giving me a panoramic view of his muscled back. My heart reacted in all kinds of funny ways, but I pushed the feelings down. We were friends, nothing more.
“There’s one thing I can’t understand,” Noah said, closing the email. “How on earth did a girl
